new book: Urban Safety and Security
This book is the outcome of the interaction among 3 international research projects (reducing boundaries,Sharingspace and Mobile A2K- culture and safety in Africa) which have being exploring – from different disciplinary perspectives – the nexus between public space and (real and perceived) security in some European, African and Latin-American cities.
The three main issues which are dialoguing along this work are: i) the processes of self-segregation of the middle class in contemporary cities, ii) the different uses of collective spaces in cities characterized by increasing diversity; iii) public art as an instrument for urban regeneration.
